How To Create Positive Mental Attitude

Positive mental attitude has been touched upon since the concept of free will, but Napolean Hill was the first to develop the concept of PMA. It has been discussed and lectured on since Hill’s writings became public in 1937.

A positive mental attitude is developed by constant reinforcement of one’s goals, positive values and beliefs. A variety of techniques have been created over the years such as motivational posters, daily devotionals, accountability partners, and cause wristbands. Learning to control one’s emotions is a key part to developing and maintaining PMA so as to expel the negative thoughts and feelings that could influence your actions and behavior.

If you take possession of your mind and direct it towards your desired  goals you will receive some direct benefits.

Those benefits include:
  • success
  • mental and physical health
  • financial independence
  • peace of mind
  • a labor of love which to enjoy yourself
  • faith without fear
  • friendship
  • a long fulfilled life
  • wisdom to understand yourself and others

There is just a small part of this that is scary, keeping yourself in a constant state of emotional bliss takes time effort and habit.

So how do you start to stay in a positive mental state in order to find that happiness in life? Your life is the product and result of your choices. You always have (and had) a choice. Start by making some choices that have impact on your life and how you feel.

  • Build the habit of using positive language
Listen to the words you use. Avoid words like 'always', 'never', 'can’t', 'won’t' and even 'why.' Say 'I choose' or 'I want', instead of 'I need' or 'I should’ and notice the difference it makes in your attitude.

  • Surround yourself with positive people
Surround yourself with people who have a positive influence in your life, people who speak the truth and support you.  Expand your circle of positive influence with people who are further ahead in personal and professional development than you are.

  • Develop a “Givers mentality
Give away what you seek without expectation or measuring. When you seek success, help others to be successful. When you seek happiness, help others to find happiness first.

  • Let go of anger, resentment and judgment
Hanging on to negative emotions like anger or resentment will drain your energy and hinders you from moving forward to create positive change in your life.

  • Create positive, realistic expectations and take action
Make sure your expectations are  harmonious with who you really are. You are what you believe, and you become what you believe.  Expect the best, and only the best, from life, from others, and from yourself. Take action on your expectations.

  • Stop believing in what you think is true and start believing in what you really want
Identify and let go of  beliefs that no longer support you. Instead develop beliefs that are aligned with your goals, values and your heart’s desire.

  • Take responsibility for your own life
Focus your attention on what you can control: your thoughts, your actions, your behavior, and activities. Taking ownership and responsibility for your own life is a freedom .

Attitude is everything and if you occupy your mind  with attracting the things and situations you desire there will be no time for your mind to stray to the things and situations that you do not want.

Risk........Passion

You may indeed find yourself living a comfortable life when you do not follow your instincts. You pay your bills and fill out all the right forms living your life by the book. But what you never fail to realize is it is a book that was written by someone else.

Regardless of your circumstances, you probably want more.  You might not be able to put a finger on it, but you still sense that you are not accomplishing all you can and that fulfillment is eluding you.

So, why would anybody want to take a risk?

~ Risk gives you an opportunity to open up to your talents, interests, abilities and dreams.

~ Risk teaches you to set clear goals and follow through.
~ Risk allows you to feel powerful and proactive, making things happen rather than waiting for them to happen “to” you.

~ Risk opens you up to new ideas, skills, opportunities and experiences.

~ Risk allows you to grow and discover new things about yourself and the world, to develop your strengths and talents.

~ Risk allows you to conquer your fears.

~ Risk is exhilarating. It makes you come alive.

Some people are afraid to take the smallest risks, wanting guaranteed results. This can result in a life that's flat and lackluster. Others take risks easily, believing that their willingness to leap makes them courageous. But taking major risks without thinking them through is foolish, and such people often find themselves picking up the pieces of shattered dreams.

Dr Wayne Dryer says, “You’ll find your passion in what inspires you most. And what does the word inspire mean? It derives from the words “in spirit.”When you’re inspired, you never have to ask about your purpose.”

"The Passion Plan": by Richard Chang “In counseling individuals and consulting with organizations for over twenty-five years, I have learned that those who overcome the deterrents to fulfillment derive their energy and initiative from a single source: passion.  Not the romantic variety — although many would argue it certainly cannot hurt — but the kind that fills them with energy and excitement, gets them up in the morning, and keeps them awake at night.
When they experience it, they lose track of time and become absorbed in the task at hand.  This passion creates personal intensity and uplifts and inspires them.  It heightens their performance and enables them to achieve things they may never have dreamed possible.”

Finding your passion is not only the key to happiness, but also the key to business success. But it takes more than just a pithy, inspirational phrase to get there.

Apple's Steve Jobs “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me. Going to
bed at night saying we've done something wonderful, that's what matters to me.”

Wilbur Wright wrote to a friend: “I have been afflicted with the belief that flight is possible to man. My disease has increased in severity and I feel that it will soon cost me an increased amount of money, if not my life.”

Every person has their own personal risk thermostat, a fact that appears to have biological roots as well as, perhaps, psychological ones. Follow your passion, but do extensive research and planning before you begin. Examine all the options to get to your goal. Don’t take silly risks, take calculated risks.

What's the common thread? To find your passion, you must be willing to take risks and make sacrifices. You have to give things up. Safe things, sometimes things you worked hard to get.
 But it's worth it.

Let me know how you feel?

How To Think!

I have heard through my entire life "that thoughts become things".

In the past you have probably read many books that talk about this very subject. The thing that we must all come to terms with is that it takes discipline and a positive mindset.

Make sure you set aside a time to do this every day and do not waver because you are to busy. If need be start with 5 minutes and increase eventually to 15 minutes. You will create for yourself a more fulfilled life if you take the time to sit and think positive thoughts for 15 minutes a day.

Allowing your thoughts to run freely means clearing your mind of all the “confining” stresses that contribute to the  tension and emotional suffocation we create everyday. Remember, “freedom” of speech means an environment free from mental disturbances.

We think about things, people, incidents, good times, bad times (mostly!) but very rarely about the things that we want to change. Everyday life stuff. How we would like our lives to be better, how can we improve ourselves, our job, our family, our relationships, friends, our environment, our life, in fact our destiny!

Writing makes the invisible visible. At any one time, you have myriad thoughts, ideas and insights lodged in your mind, waiting to be released. Writing is one way to let your thoughts flow, to take you wherever you need to go.

So, coming back to thinking.

Take these simple steps:

1. Sit down in a quiet place in your house or outside.

2. Take a notebook and a pencil.

3. Close your eyes and just let your thoughts think what they want to think.

4. Try to think about your job, business, relationships, finances, career, life, goals, achievements, dreams, where you want to go, what you love doing etc. In fact, anything that you want answers to, or do better at. Even the things that you THINK you are good at.

5. After a couple of sittings like these, you will feel things/ideas coming in your mind. Good things. Better way of doing things. Or simply creative thoughts. Keep them coming. Dont stop them, please!

6.  Hold NOTHING back! Be open, honest, totally free, uninhibited, and completely expressive.

7.Write them down before you forget them.

8. Act on them, they could be the ones to change your life.

If you try and do this every day for even 5 minutes, I promise you that your life will be different in less a month. Provided, you act on those thoughts and don’t just write them and forget them.
