How To Create Positive Mental Attitude

Positive mental attitude has been touched upon since the concept of free will, but Napolean Hill was the first to develop the concept of PMA. It has been discussed and lectured on since Hill’s writings became public in 1937.

A positive mental attitude is developed by constant reinforcement of one’s goals, positive values and beliefs. A variety of techniques have been created over the years such as motivational posters, daily devotionals, accountability partners, and cause wristbands. Learning to control one’s emotions is a key part to developing and maintaining PMA so as to expel the negative thoughts and feelings that could influence your actions and behavior.

If you take possession of your mind and direct it towards your desired  goals you will receive some direct benefits.

Those benefits include:
  • success
  • mental and physical health
  • financial independence
  • peace of mind
  • a labor of love which to enjoy yourself
  • faith without fear
  • friendship
  • a long fulfilled life
  • wisdom to understand yourself and others

There is just a small part of this that is scary, keeping yourself in a constant state of emotional bliss takes time effort and habit.

So how do you start to stay in a positive mental state in order to find that happiness in life? Your life is the product and result of your choices. You always have (and had) a choice. Start by making some choices that have impact on your life and how you feel.

  • Build the habit of using positive language
Listen to the words you use. Avoid words like 'always', 'never', 'can’t', 'won’t' and even 'why.' Say 'I choose' or 'I want', instead of 'I need' or 'I should’ and notice the difference it makes in your attitude.

  • Surround yourself with positive people
Surround yourself with people who have a positive influence in your life, people who speak the truth and support you.  Expand your circle of positive influence with people who are further ahead in personal and professional development than you are.

  • Develop a “Givers mentality
Give away what you seek without expectation or measuring. When you seek success, help others to be successful. When you seek happiness, help others to find happiness first.

  • Let go of anger, resentment and judgment
Hanging on to negative emotions like anger or resentment will drain your energy and hinders you from moving forward to create positive change in your life.

  • Create positive, realistic expectations and take action
Make sure your expectations are  harmonious with who you really are. You are what you believe, and you become what you believe.  Expect the best, and only the best, from life, from others, and from yourself. Take action on your expectations.

  • Stop believing in what you think is true and start believing in what you really want
Identify and let go of  beliefs that no longer support you. Instead develop beliefs that are aligned with your goals, values and your heart’s desire.

  • Take responsibility for your own life
Focus your attention on what you can control: your thoughts, your actions, your behavior, and activities. Taking ownership and responsibility for your own life is a freedom .

Attitude is everything and if you occupy your mind  with attracting the things and situations you desire there will be no time for your mind to stray to the things and situations that you do not want.
