Risk........Passion

You may indeed find yourself living a comfortable life when you do not follow your instincts. You pay your bills and fill out all the right forms living your life by the book. But what you never fail to realize is it is a book that was written by someone else.

Regardless of your circumstances, you probably want more.  You might not be able to put a finger on it, but you still sense that you are not accomplishing all you can and that fulfillment is eluding you.

So, why would anybody want to take a risk?

~ Risk gives you an opportunity to open up to your talents, interests, abilities and dreams.

~ Risk teaches you to set clear goals and follow through.

~ Risk allows you to feel powerful and proactive, making things happen rather than waiting for them to happen “to” you.

~ Risk opens you up to new ideas, skills, opportunities and experiences.

~ Risk allows you to grow and discover new things about yourself and the world, to develop your strengths and talents.

~ Risk allows you to conquer your fears.

~ Risk is exhilarating. It makes you come alive.

Some people are afraid to take the smallest risks, wanting guaranteed results. This can result in a life that's flat and lackluster. Others take risks easily, believing that their willingness to leap makes them courageous. But taking major risks without thinking them through is foolish, and such people often find themselves picking up the pieces of shattered dreams.

Dr Wayne Dryer says, “You’ll find your passion in what inspires you most. And what does the word inspire mean? It derives from the words “in spirit.”When you’re inspired, you never have to ask about your purpose.”

Finding your passion is not only the key to happiness, but also the key to business success. But it takes more than just a pithy, inspirational phrase to get there.

Apple's Steve Jobs “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me. Going to 

bed at night saying we've done something wonderful, that's what matters to me.”

Wilbur Wright wrote to a friend: “I have been afflicted with the belief that flight is possible to man. My disease has increased in severity and I feel that it will soon cost me an increased amount of money, if not my life.”

Every person has their own personal risk thermostat, a fact that appears to have biological roots as well as, perhaps, psychological ones. Follow your passion, but do extensive research and planning before you begin. Examine all the options to get to your goal. Don’t take silly risks, take calculated risks. 

What's the common thread? To find your passion, you must be willing to take risks and make sacrifices. You have to give things up. Safe things, sometimes things you worked hard to get.

 But it's worth it.
